Spring Rain

The following was written a short time ago for my Intro to Creative Writing Class. While I feel like it could use tweaking, I post it here for posterity. I don’t feel I’m any good at poetry, but others’ thoughts are more than welcome.

Rhythmic symphonies drum in unison

Composing a score for the world to hear

And water waltzes as the day is done

With the oncoming night and fading sun

Obscured by gray clouds, the light disappears

Rhythmic symphonies drum in unison

A trio of geese flies by, a tune spun

From their lungs the song echoes around here

And water waltzes as the day is done

A tree stands tall, limbs wafting as winds run

Branches to and fro like a puppeteer

Rhythmic symphonies drum in unison

Night grows and streetlamps turn on one by one

The artificial gleam signals light’s bier

And water waltzes as the day is done

Mother Nature’s rebirth has just begun

It starts with rain, and through many a tier

Rhythmic symphonies drum in unison

And water waltzes as the day is done
